My Decorating Tips

♥ Find a theme, and try to stick to it. The theme in my closet/bedroom is just light and bright. White walls, white floors, a white dresser, white shelves and a white mirror.. Lots of white, but since there’s so many different colors on my clothes and accessories, I thought it would look best that way. There’s so many different ways to go though, like dark colors, a cool patterned wallpaper, black and white, minimalistic, etc. I must say i’m pretty happy with all the white, it makes the whole room look like a piece of heaven :)
♥ Mirrors are a perfect way to make the room appear bigger than it actually is. I’ve found lots of cute mirrors at Bohus and Living.
♥ Go to Fretex or a flea marked, and find cute tables, dressers or mirrors. It’s always fun to have something no one else has. You can paint it in whichever color you’d like, for instance you can add diamond knobs to a dresser, and customize it until you’re happy. It’s so much fun to make and customize things yourself!
♥ Perfect is boring! To me, an organized mess looks way more chic than a totally polished room where everything’s lined up perfectly and in order. I have so many different things lying around, especially on the bottom shelf, but I like it that way. So a tip is; Don’t strive for perfection, put all your favorite things out where you can see them. In stead of stacking your necklaces, nail polishes and everything pretty away in drawers and boxes; Hang it up on the walls, put it on shelves etc. It adds personality to your room.
♥ Be creative. You don’t have to spend lots of money on fancy walk-in-closet gear. I’m super happy with the way my system worked out, I love that I can see everything all the time, and that it’s not stacked away in closets. This is pretty budget friendly too, I think it was like 1000kr for this whole thing.
The poles are from Langlo, we ordered them at Coop Obs Bygg. The whole thing was really easy to set up (you just need a handyman and a screwdriver)
♥ If you have your clothes ‘on exhibition’ like I have, color coordinating can be a good idea. I try to have light colors on one side, and dark colors on the other side. Looks pretty, and it’s much easier to find what you’re looking for this way.
♥ For things like pajamas, underwear, workout clothes etc, these boxes from Ikea are perfect.
♥ Like I said, put your favorite things where you can see them! If my jewellery is just laying in a drawer or something, I’ll forget that I have it. This jewellery hanger works perfectly as decoration too. I found it at Asos.
Both of these were gifts, and work perfectly to store everything from necklaces, sunglasses and hair ties.
♥ Cute wall hooks are a perfect way to store your bags.
♥ Books are phenomenal as decoration. These are from Shopbop and Urban Outfitters.
♥ Flowers can brighten up any room. Unfortunately I cannot keep real ones alive for more than a day, so these fake ones from Ikea are perfect.
♥ Be creative when it comes to decorating. If you have a cool magazine cover, a cool book, a cool shopping bag or whatever it might be, put it up there!
♥ For the bed, I’m a sucker for big and fluffy pillows, and lots of them! We have a white chiffon curtain which my mom made between the closet and the bed, which divides the room a bit.
The pillows in our bed are from H&M Home, Living and Ikea. The cute cape on the bed is from H&M Home.
